Just a few hours ago, Apple seeded the first iOS 8.1 beta to registered developers for testing on compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models. The pre-release software update contains a number of changes that we’ve outlined ahead. We’ll be keeping this post updated with any other new features and improvements as we uncover them.
- You will be able to enable/disable Dictation in Keyboard Settings
- “Recently Added” renamed back to “Camera Roll” in Photos. It looks like Apple is listening to the complaints, as the missing Camera roll after the iOS 8 update had annoyed many users.
- iBooks icon redesigned to match recent promotional materials
- The Settings pane for third-party app permissions has been tweaked
- Hidden Settings for Apple Pay: iOS 8.1 includes hidden settings for Apple Pay. Code references discovered in iOS 8.1 also suggest that Touch ID support is coming to iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3. Check our post for more details.
- Larger icons in Notification Center widget view
- Bug fixes
